I made my Mom and Dad an end grain cutting board! It was a fun project and tested my woodworking mettle. It's made from Rock Maple and an exotic South American hardwood called Purple Heart. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Here's a picture of it with it's new owner:

I took some scraps from the garage and made some shallow trays and mounted them on full extension drawer slides in the island. Lower cabinets are a pain because you have to crouch down and reach way in to get/see what's in there. Not any more! These trays pull all the way out, giving you full access to what's in them. The slides are rated for 100lbs too.

We just got finished producing almost 500 DVDs ourselves! That means burning, printing, packaging, shrink wrapping, etc. Where the heck did all these DVDs come from, you ask? There is a scene where one character is bolting through the forest after having heard a strange sound. Peter has the camera in his right hand and is running at top speed to try and keep Stephen (playing Foster) behind him and in camera.

We have a couple of hiking sequences that are to shot with the Glidecam, which is a competitor of the well known Steadicam. For the uninitiated, it is a camera stabilization device that allows smooth tracking shots. In this picture, I'm wearing an arm brace with a post attached to it on which the glidecam unit mounts.

On the left side is the night time dinner scene we're shooting. We've blacked out the windows and lit to mimic evening lighting. And so, the drawers are mounted! It is now starting to look like an actual piece of furniture.The holes for the handles went through both the drawer front and the box front. Attaching the handle and tightening the screws sufficiently gave me enough pressure to align the drawer front. I then drilled countersunk holes from inside the drawer box to screw the fronts to the boxes.

I finally finished the drawer fronts. Two coats of stain, and two coats of polyurethane. Jen picked out the drawer pulls this morning (see below).All the drawer boxes are now mounted in the cabinet, and my goal is to mount fronts and pulls tonight!
